Observation towers in Lempäälä

Ahtialanjärvi observation tower

Ahtialanjärvi lake is the most varied bird lake in Tampere region. The lake covers an area of 168 hectares. Ahtialajärvi is a nationally valuable lake for the national Natura 2000 conservation program. The observation tower is located near the center of Lempäälä. It's also part of the nationally valuable FINIBA-area.

Mattila observation tower

The observation tower was built in 1999 by local people in Mattila and it is located at the highest point of the hill. From there you can enjoy a great view to Lempäälä and even to city of Valkeakoski and Tampere. Next to the tower, there is a campfire site and Birgitta trail.

Virta-campus observation tower

There is another observation tower at the shore of Ahtialanjärvi, too. It's located just next to Virta-campus and operates as a bus stop at the same time. That's one of the ways how the school has wanted to bring nature closer to the students.
